Writing

One of the most important parts of my life, a thread that has existed since I first learned how, is writing. I used to joke that I was addicted to the written word. Put words in front of me, I will read them. Give me a pen, a pencil, or a computer, and I will write. My first story was written in 1st grade. I spent my teenage years vacillating between pouring my soul on paper and creating complex stories on the computer. I wrote because I could. I wrote because I had to. I wrote because it was the only time my soul felt seen.

As an adult, my writing has gotten more varied and better. I am much better at capturing emotions, complex ideas, and reaching audiences than I was as a child, but my soul’s need to write has not diminished. So I write.

This writing tab does not include my advocacy pieces. Those get their own category on my site because of their importance. Instead, here you will find the words I write as a creative author, either in poetry or personal essays, or info about projects I’m working on.

I hope you enjoy seeing a slice of the inside of my soul in these pages.
